Regarding thequantity of human resources, the Head of BIG, Hasanuddin Z. Abidin, stated that the need for human resources in the field of surveying and mapping at the National level is currently still lacking as many as 20,000 surveyors (www.its.ac.id, 22 August 2017).

Currently, Indonesia has 8,500 people working in the GI field. Of that number, 7,030 people are located in Java. Meanwhile, there are 107 companies or industries engaged in the GI sector and their locations are centralized in Java as well. Meanwhile, the ideal number of Human Resources (HR) in the GI field is around 31,500 people. The need for GI HR continues to increase, according to the projection of GI HR needs until 2024, 40,743 people are needed.

Graduates from the General Surveying and Mapping Technology study program are needed in various employment sectors, both in Government Agencies and in the private sector.
